Ronaldo Leaves Madrid
No longer speculation! Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to leave Real Madrid. The Spanish club confirmed that the Portuguese sports star will transfer to Juventus. The rumoured offer is 110 million although nothing has been confirmed by the Italian side as of yet. It will put Ronaldo among the 10 most expensive transfers ever for the second time. An exorbitant salary will bring him closer to, if not beyond, the wages of Lionel Messi and Neymar.
Real Madrid released a letter from Ronaldo to his now former club “I have only feeling of enormous gratitude for this club,” the 33-year-old said. “However, I believe that the time has come to open a new stage in my life, and therefore I have asked the club to accept transferring me.”
The offer was made by Juve and supported by Ronaldo. It seems like a smart decision in terms of timing since Madrid are now coming from winning the Champions League 3 years in row and will probably be looking to re-build with their new manager Julen Lopetegui.
450 goals and claimed 15 total trophies over nine seasons? That’s not too shabby..
